StemVita stem cell hair loss treatment

Westminster Medical Group are proud to be offering StemVita stem cell treatments. StemVita is a pioneering injectable hair-loss treatment which offers Nanofat combined with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF).

Nanofat is liquidised abdominal fat which contains a very high concentration of stem cells. Once the Nanofat is mixed with PRP and PRF, this forms a highly stimulating active product which can increase hair volume.

StemVita vastly improves the results of PRP injectable treatments by essentially ”supercharging” the result through a richer concentration of stem cells to give a longer lasting and more powerful effect.

ISHRS change the meaning of FUE

For many years the abbreviation FUE has been used by many clinics to reference the hair transplant method known as “Follicular Unit Extraction”. Earlier this year the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) officially updated the term to “Follicular Unit Excision“.

With the increasing popularity of FUE worldwide, the old term lost its surgical nature and was often referred to as ”non-invasive’ and even ”scarless procedure” often boasting the lack of linear scar and misleading many patients into believing that the FUE technique is far superior and less obvious than its FUT forerunner. In reality, FUE is equally as complex as FUT and requires great technical knowledge to perform correctly.

During an FUE procedure the meticulous circular excision of each graft should only be performed by a professional with years of experience to minimise transaction rate during harvesting. Read more here:

The Future King’s battle against baldness!

Prince William has been battling with hair loss for the best part of his 20’s, and has only  recently decided to shave it all off at the age of 35 years old.

Embracing baldness exerts confidence by letting others know that you are not trying to hide your thinning hair. When one shaves their hair this can either be a liberating experience or a total shock to the system when the full extent of the loss is revealed.

With the many hair-loss solutions available today, the Prince could have benefited from either surgical hair restoration, Scalp Pigmentation treatment or even a medical solution. Perhaps the future King will consider one of these treatment options in time to come, as Prince Harry is reported to be spending £50,000 on a hair transplant following the royal wedding in May.

At Westminster Clinic we offer tailored treatment plans for Hair Transplant surgery, Scalp Pigmentation treatment and the various hair-loss medical solutions available to help win the battle against balding.

It takes good eyes and a steady hand

The surgeon and his technicians are all very important members of the operating team.

While it is understandable that hair transplant surgery is team work, it is ultimately the hair restoration surgeon who is responsible for the procedure.

The key to a successful hair transplant lies in the ability to bring together a highly trained surgical team, who use the correct precision tools, and work in sync to complete the procedure in a timely manner.

The surgeon is responsible for the patient throughout the whole process, marking up where the hairs should be planted, anaesthetising the scalp, harvesting the hair grafts and also the creative aesthetic process of designing the hairline, all whilst overseeing and directing his team of technicians.

Hair transplant technicians are responsible for dissecting the hair grafts under high magnification, trimming them to a uniform size, and preparing them for insertion. Precision, skill, accuracy and speed at this level are hugely important, and only a team trained to the highest standards can complete the task ahead.

Whilst technically any medical doctor can train to become a hair transplant surgeon, it takes years of practice and dedication to become truly proficient in the art of hair restorative surgery. A good hair transplant surgeon must have a very thorough understanding of the various types of hair loss and be able to envision what can realistically be achieved for each individual case. A good hair transplant surgeon will listen to his patient and help educate each patient with the viable options available for his or her particular case.

Dr. Rogers & Dr. Sebastian are both incredibly talented surgical artists, with a wealth of experience in the field of hair restorative and micro surgery. Both surgeons are registered with the ISHRS, the worlds leading authority on hair loss restoration.

Dr. Rogers attends ISHRS 25th World Congress

Dr. Rogers and the Westminster Medical Group team recently attended the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) 25th World Congress in Prague, Czech Republic.

Dr. Rogers has over 21 years of experience in the hair restoration field and has been a recognised member of the ISHRS since 1997. Most notably, in the ISHRS transplant journal, his article was recommended as the most practice-changing suggestion by Dr. Bertram Ng.

To briefly summarise from the article, Dr. Rogers pioneered a technique which he called the ‘slanticle incision’, which in laymen terms means the precise angulation of incision holes for planting hairs, so that they match the natural directional flow of the surrounding hairs on any given part of the scalp. Many surgeons around the world have now adopted this technique to create completely undetectable hair transplant results.

During Dr. Rogers’ visit to the ISHRS conference in Prague, he participated in many HT workshops and talks, including eyebrow transplants, trans-gender case studies and Platelet Rich Plasma therapy (PRP).

Transplantace vlasů činí muže atraktivní?

Agentura Reuters zveřejnila studii  lékařské univerzity John Hopkins School of Medicine v Baltimoru s názvem: “Činí transplantace vlasů muže atraktivními či nikoliv?”

V rámci získání objektivního hodnocení požádala Dr. Ishiiová a její kolegové 122 dobrovolníků – 58 mužů a 64 žen – aby zhodnotili 13 párů fotografií. 7 párů fotografií zobrazovalo muže před a po transplantaci vlasů, zbývajících 6 párů zobrazovalo muže, kteří neprodělali žádnou transplantaci, ani jiný kosmetický zákrok.

Hair transplants make men look more attractive

The news agency, Reuters, reports a trial from the John Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, whether “hair transplants make men look more attractive” or not?

(Reuters Health) – Balding men who seek to look better or younger by undergoing hair transplants are on the right course, a small new study suggests.

People shown before-and-after pictures of hair transplant recipients rated men with more locks as looking more attractive and younger, researchers found. People also thought the men looked more successful and approachable after the procedure.

“In an attempt to get objective opinions on men’s appearances before and after the procedure, Dr Ishii and her colleagues asked 122 volunteers – 58 men and 64 women – to view 13 pairs of images. Seven pairs showed men before and after having had a hair transplant; the other six pairs were of men who didn’t have a hair transplant or any other significant cosmetic procedures between the two photographs.

The participants were asked to rate each image on age, attractiveness, successfulness and approachability.

The reviewers thought the men who’d had hair transplants looked about four years younger in their “after” photos. They also thought the men looked more attractive, successful and approachable after their procedures.

“It showed there were measurable improvements on measures that are meaningful to the patients,” she said.”
